The Alexandria Veterans Curation Program (VCP) laboratory has begun processing collections from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Huntington District. In May 2014, technicians began processing 40 boxes of artifacts and 2 linear feet of archives from the Jenkins House Site, a Civil War-era plantation in West Virginia.

The Jenkins House Site (46CB41)
VCP technicians are rehabilitating the artifacts and documents from the 2002 to 2003 archaeological investigation of the Jenkins House Site (46CB41), which is located on the USACE Robert C. Byrd Locks property in West Virginia. The house, which overlooks the Ohio River, was built in 1835 by Captain William Jenkins. The archaeological investigation uncovered important features that helped in the interpretation and restoration of this historic home. The collection consists of over 80,000 artifacts and 2 linear feet of associated archives, which are being processed by the VCP to ensure their preservation for future generations.
