The artifacts and records that make up the Millers Ferry collection are associated with archaeological excavations conducted between 1963 and 1968 in Wilcox County, Alabama. The Augusta Veterans Curation Program laboratory received 184 boxes of artifacts and 25 linear inches of excavation records from the Millers Ferry project. Veterans working at the lab sorted and inventoried the artifacts before rehousing them in archival-quality containers. Diagnostic artifacts were photographed using a protocol developed by a forensics expert. The veterans cleaned and mended the associated records so that they could be digitized and organized in an archival database. A finding aid was developed for the collection so that future researchers will be better able to access the collection.
