Public Affairs Office 1927 and 1951 Flood Photographs

The St. Louis VCP is currently working on an archival project for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District’s Public Affairs Office.  Staff members are cataloging, cleaning, and scanning historic photographs that document the 1927 and 1951 flooding of the Mississippi River and its tributaries. The images record the initial damage and recovery efforts to deal with the aftermath.  Many of these photographs are one of kind, so creating digital copies of them is crucial for their preservation.
