Vietnam Slide Project

The Alexandria VCP recently completed processing archival records from a total of 5,922 color positive slides that were taken over a six year period in Vietnam from 1966 to 1972. The slides show a series of landscapes, maps, and the progression of various construction projects that were undertaken by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

In the background of this photograph members of the C Co of the 84th En Bn can be seen erecting structural steel for a warehouse in the Qui Nhon depot. In the foreground indigenous laborers are making preparations for the placement of concrete for footers of another warehouse.

This is another photograph of warehouse construction in the Qui Nhon depot.

The temporary ammunition storage area at Qui Nhon is shown in this photograph. This site is approximately two miles west of the city.

A part of the Qui Nhon logistical complex is shown in this photograph. This site is actually located Route 19 west of Qui Nhon and will consist of three sub-areas. The first, located in the fore ground of the photograph, will be a storage area for Engineer class IV supplies. The second, located in the upper right hand portion of the photograph will be an engineer field maintenance depot. The third, located in the upper right hand portion of the photograph will be a cantonment for the personnel who will work here. Since February some 10,000 cy of fill have been hauled, a number of concrete pads have been placed in the cantonment area and the construction of the first maintenance building has been started.

This photograph is oriented toward the south and shows the Engineer Class IV supply yard near the south beach at Cam Ranh Bay.

This photograph was taken on the north side of the runway at Nha Trang. In the foreground is the large warehouse which was recently completed by C Co of the 864th Engineer Battalion. This warehouse is being used to store medical supplies and it is located adjacent to the field hospital at Nha Trang.
